Whale Watching
From January to March, thousands of California Gray Whales pass on their migration route to calving grounds in the Sea of Cortez. Their primary feeding grounds are the Bering, Chukchi and Beaufort seas of Alaska and Siberia. In just two months the whales cover the 5,000 mile trip from Alaska to the Baja lagoons. During their migration you'll frequently spot them from your balcony.
Fishing
Some of the world’s greatest fishing grounds. Fish from the pier, rent a boat, or go out on a special deep sea charter from Ensenada.
No matter what you choose, you will experience phenomenal sport fishing in the tropical waters of Sea of Cortez and big game fish on the Pacific side including tuna, marlin, whahoo, dorado and sailfish.
Charter boats abound and knowledgeable guides will direct you to the best spots.
Surfing
Rosarito Beach boasts a long coastline with excellent surf breaks. Many other breaks are within easy reach including the popular K38s just a short distance up the road. Northern Baja’s many beach and reef breaks offer consistent uncrowded surf year round. Baja gets south swells in summer from hurricanes or large storms in the South Pacific and winters swells from the North Pacific making for very consistent wave action. Surf Forecast for Baja Norte.
